MOUSE Alert!

We have a slight problem, there is a mouse loose in the house. How do i know this you may ask? Well, apart from seeing it run across the bathroom floor i have spied half eaten chestnuts littering the entrance room!
As you can see my prime mouse catcher is completely un-interested in this particular mouse. It is obviously not enough to tempt her to move. This, despite the fact that she goes outside and will allways come back with a mouse to eat outside the door making sure to leave the stomach sac in a prominant place for all to see!
What can i do? Get another mouse catcher? Buy a mouse trap or somehow get willow to earn her keep in the house for a change? How does one encourage a cat that already catches mice to catch the ONE in the house? Perhaps i should catch it then release it so that she can catch it? A bit too drastic i think but somebody has to catch it 'cos if luscious sees it one of is in trouble and i can take bets that it won't be the cat!
Now, where is that old cheese?....... Posted by Picasa

Can you prop an old coffee jar on it's side and put some chestnuts in the bottom for it? The theory is they slide in and can't get out. Although last time I did this, it turned out to be a rat rather than a mouse - it not only took all the food and did a runner, but it also dragged away the old towel I'd used to prop up the jar, presumably for bedding :).

    Best of luck! :)

I make and sell the ISS (it's So Simple) mouse bucket trap, http://www.issmousetraps.com , but You can make your own that is similar. Get a five gallon plastic pail and put three inches of water in the bottom. Smear peanut butter (or chocolate syrup) along the sidewall about four inches down from the top on the inside of the pail. Lay a stick (most anything) to make a ramp from the floor to the top of the bucket. The mouse will climb the ramp, go for the bait, fall into the water and drown.

Mandy: Still trying to catch the little bugger! avoided all traps and nibbled at the cheese but it is STILL alive!

Ally: sounds like a good idea will give it a go and let you know how it goes.

Fred: reckon if i did that the cat would lick all the sweet stuff off and then take a bath in the water! Not a bad idea though if i can get the cat to stay away!

Wow look at that log burner, no wonder your cat is as snug as a bug in a rug or should it be as fat as a cat on a mat.

Happy mouse hunting, let a couple of rats free in the house, they should catch him!

the mouse il est mort! le chat elle et mange. she finally woke up enough and decided that she ought to do her job and after 1hr of patiently waiting finally caught the little blighter in one of the toilets. the end was swift and she is now looking thoroughly pleased with herself.
